The National Minority Supplier Development Council is comprised of 23 Regional Councils like WRMSDC, 12,000 minority businesses, and over 400 National Corporate Members, including most of America’s largest publicly-owned, privately-owned, and foreign-owned companies, as well as universities, hospitals, and other buying institutions. Visit the National MSDC online at: http://www.nmsdc.org/
WRMSDC has an affiliation agreement with NMSDC to administer the NMSDC certification program. Certification obtained through WRMSDC is the NMSDC certification and is a national certification valid throughout the United States. If you have business operations in other geographical areas, however, you may wish to consider subscribing to the services of other Affiliate Councils. WRMSDC services are available to all WRMSDC certified MBEs and do not require paying for a separate subscription. Learn more about our Subscription Services.
May I drop by the WRMSDC office for an unscheduled visit to discuss the certification application process, ask for instructions on how to apply, and/or meet with the WRMSDC President, Vice President, or Director of Certification?
Our staff is often out hosting events or in meetings. All certification information is listed on our website for your convenience. If you still have questions after you read our online material, please email: certification@wrmsdc.org
Why haven’t I received any of the frequent communications that WRMSDC sends out to its constituents?
WRMSDC communicates primarily through email. Ensure that the email address that you provided in your online profile is up-to-date by emailing certification@wrmsdc.org to verify your current contacts.
Certified MBEs are corporate suppliers of goods or services that have gone through the rigorous NMSDC certification process and are found to match the NMSDC certification criteria to be considered at least 51% minority owned, operated, managed, and controlled. Only certified MBEs are eligible for participation in matchmaking events and can be considered as eligible for spend counting towards the Billion Dollar Roundtable.
Certified MBEs have the greatest levels of access to council assistance programs and executive education and coaching opportunities.
Registered MBEs are any company, regardless of size or type, that have undergone a less rigorous process to be identified as at least 50% minority-owned and uses a broader definition of ethnic minority. Registered MBEs have access to council events, communications, and networking, and may take advantage of some of the same opportunities as Certified MBEs.
Listed MBEs are companies that have undergone a less rigorous process to be identified as at least 40% minority owned. Listed MBEs have access to council events, communications, and networking.
Full details on these programs can be accessed through MBE Services.
We recommend that company owners look at the criteria for certification vs registration or listing first, as that will guide applicants in deciding which programs are best for them. Then, consider what you want out of a relationship with WRMSDC. If you have clients that have specifically requested that you look into certification, we recommend doing so, but if you are primarily interested in joining a minority business networking organization, then perhaps look at being Listed or Registered.
